Deborah Frances (Harris) Tucker was born on November 25, 1946 in Philadelphia, PA to the late Eleanor and Clarence Harris. She was the second born of four children who include her three brothers: Davis, Robert (deceased), and Vincent.
At the age of 13, “Debbie” accepted Christ and was baptized at Grace Baptist Church of Germantown where she attended Sunday School regularly. Debbie received her formal education in the Philadelphia School System, attending Emlen Elementary, Roosevelt Jr. High, and Germantown High School, where she graduated in 1964. She worked briefly at Bell Telephone and Einstein Hospital before starting her career as a Secretary and Office Manager for Temple University Hospital’s Department of Psychiatry, where she worked for more than 30 years.
On September 16, 1966, Debbie gave birth to her only child, Lisa Kimberly Tucker who was her pride and joy. She was a devoted wife to Gerald Leon Tucker who she married on June 12, 1971. Their forty-six year union was a perfect example of love, respect, and true dedication. In 1978 Debbie and Gerald moved to Elkins Park, PA where they have resided for over 30 years.
Debbie was a woman that exuded beauty and grace and always had a beautiful smile on her face. Debbie enjoyed family, good food (especially lobster) and attending social gatherings. Her two favorite holidays were Memorial Day and Thanksgiving. Debbie loved being a grandmother and cherished the moments with each of her grandchildren immensely. There is nothing “Mema” wouldn’t do for them. She enjoyed going to her Multiple Sclerosis Support Group. Many of the group members became wonderful friends that socialized beyond the MS group. Debbie enjoyed watching soap operas, game shows, and online shopping.
On Wednesday, May 3, 2017, Debbie was called home to be with our Lord and Savior. She is survived by her husband Gerald, daughter Lisa (Tucker) Solanke, her three grandchildren: Olu, Ade and Mofe Solanke, her brothers: Davis and Vincent Harris, her uncles: George and Ernest Lucas, her aunts: Althedenia (Dee) Porter and Yvonne Lucas, one brother-in-law: Charles Tucker, sisters-in-law: Gail Tucker, Mimi Tucker, and Winona Harris, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends.
Sorrowfully,
The Family
