Charles “Bernie” White entered eternal rest on Sunday, May 6, 2018, at the age of seventy-eight. Born and raised in the Kensington section of Philadelphia, he was the son of the late James and Agnes White. Bernie raised his children in Kensington and later moved to the Somerton section where he spent the last 23 years of his life with his wife of 55 years.
Bernie was a Probation Officer, employed by the Philadelphia Adult Probation and Parole Department for thirty-four years, retiring in 2003.
Bernie was a graduate of North Catholic High School Class of 1958 and received his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees from Goddard College.
He was a veteran of the Pennsylvania National Guard. Bernie was an excellent athlete, excelling in baseball and track. He was a coach for the Kensington Ramblers and Ascension of our Lord Soccer Teams. Bernie enjoyed coaching his children and grandchildren’s soccer teams. He also enjoyed playing golf.
Bernie was the beloved husband of Patricia A. White (nee Mullin). He was the devoted father of Kimberly Ann Britt of Philadelphia, Kerry Ann Hartman (Woody) of Holland, Scott Anthony White (Dana) of Meadowbrook, and Brett Anthony White (Nicole) of Chalfont. He was the loving grandfather of Brandon, Edward, Katelynn, Eric, James, Brittany, Courtney, Tess, Nicholas, Maggie, Allison, Madelynn, and Emily; and great grandfather of Frances and Joshua. Bernie is also survived by his sisters: Sister Dolores Marie and Veronica.
Relatives and Friends are invited to call from 10 AM to 11 AM on Thursday, May 10, 2018, at the Church of the Living Hope, 1271 E. Maple Ave., Langhorne, PA 19047. His Memorial Service will be at 11 AM.
