Rita Evans Mullens, 75, passed away Friday May 12th, 2017. Rita was born December 4th, 1941 in Springhill Louisiana. She was the second oldest of three daughters. She married the love of her life, Rayburn Gene Evans, June 14th 1957. They enjoyed 43 years together before his passing in 2000. In 2006, she married her second husband, Al Mullens. Al passed in 2013.
When Rita wasn’t working outside the house, she was a housewife and one heck of a cook. She couldn’t boil water without burning it when she married Rayburn, but he quickly showed her the ropes. She especially enjoyed cooking big meals for the family during the holidays and special occasions; her Pecan Pie was nearly world famous. Rita enjoyed traveling, reading, hunting and fishing. She was a talented artist as well. Rita gifted many of her painting projects to family and friends over the years. She enjoyed watching sports with Rayburn and rooting for the Oilers, Texans, Astros and watching NASCAR. Rita frequently enjoyed teaching Sunday school and was a member of the First Baptist Church of New Caney.
Rita was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel Estus Adcock and Julia Louise Cook Adcock, her sister Regenia Marie Adcock Bolton and son in law James Clausen. Rita’s remaining sister, Julia Renae Adcock Roberts, still resides in Ruby, Louisiana.
Rita is survived by her three children, Rhonda Mize of Livingston, Roxanne Clausen of Livingston and Rayburn Evans and his wife Rebecca of Spring. Grandchildren include Bennie Wolfe and his wife Karissa, Elizabeth Muller and husband Andrew, Brian Wolfe and his fiancé Fawnna, Butch Mize and his fiancé Lisa, Sareena Evans, Hunter Mize and his girlfriend Emily, and Ashley Evans. Great grandchildren include Faith Wolfe, Addison Wolfe, Kal-El Wolfe, Kayden Brummer and BJ Mize. Last but not least, Rita is survived by her four legged fur baby, Tiny.
Family and guests will gather for visitation on Thursday May 18th from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Calvary Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery. The Funeral Service will take place Friday May 19th at 2:00 pm.
Pastor Jonathan Fitzgerald will be officiating.
