I have been looking for Mike for a couple of years.  Mike and I attended North Texas together, same department, joining the Geezle fraternity together and graduating in 1968.  We both joined the Navy through the Aviation Officer candidate program together.  Mike was my best man at my wedding in Pensacola, Fl in March 1969.  After we received our wings, I would see Mike in San Diego when I had Navy schools there.  I lost track of Mike after I got orders to NAS Whidbey Island.  I'm sorry that it took so long to catch up with him.  The Geezle fraternity has been trying to contact all of the old members and we were looking for Mike.  He was a great guy and a good friend.  My condolences to the family.

Well I found you but a bit too late.  My condolences to the Family of a friend and buddy from many years ago. I still live in El Paso, Texas and remember when you were flying the Drones as well as the struggle to attend the Air Traffic Control.  We had a lot of fun in those years some of which I think of often. I think of the time you would weld and all the homes connected  to you transformer would dim because of the currant draw! You had a Chevy Nova that you were restoring. I also remember the call to help hold down the new shed that El Paso winds were about to take to the skies as it wasn't anchored yet.

Sorry about the lost of your love one. May you receive comfort from remembering what a caring person he was.

I went to LD Bell HS with Mike and did so enjoy his posts on FB.  He will be sorely missed by his friends and his family.  May God grant you comfort and strength to sustain your loss.

There's just no way to describe how much I'm going to miss this man....one of the most gentle people I've ever known. Having just moved to Houston recently, I was able to get to know him again and catch up...but not enough! I am VERY thankful for what little time we had.

Having known Mike "Blackie" Blackwell for most of my life, I knew his heart for his family, starting with his mom and dad and brother. He cared deeply for his friends and it was mutual. He loved his children and grandchildren to the moon and back. I'm thankful the little ones got to know their grandfather even better this Christmas so that they will have more good memories for years to come. He was incredibly proud of his kids. He told me so. I know how proud they are of him. I'm so sorry for your loss.

He was accomplished and funny and a pure blessing. I will continue to pray for the comfort of his precious family.
