He joined the U.S. Army after graduating High School where he served as a Sergeant in Normandy France and Central Europe Rhineland during WW II. After being Honorably discharged from the Army he entered a lifelong profession of Photography. He loved to travel and had many hobbies from photography, camping, fishing, and gardening. He was a Life Member at the VFW 4709 in Conroe Tx.
Leonard is survived by his daughter Lari Machart Collins and her husband Paul, son Leonard McCoy Jr. (Lenny) and his wife Susan. He is survived by many beloved grandchildren. Tifany Hallum (Wesley), Natalie Machart, Emily McKean (Austin), Ryan Collins (Brandi), Kelly Collins, Chase Collins, Alexis Collins, Charity Gomez (Jaime), Rachel Glass (Billy), Shawnette Howell (Robert), Aaron Thomas. He is also survived by 13 great grandchildren.
Leonard is preceded in death by his wife, Barthlynn, daughter Kathleen (Kathy), father Brennie and mother Pearl. Living the long life he lived all his brothers and sisters also preceded him in death, also preceded in death by his son in law/best friend Daryl.
A visitation for Leonard will be held Wednesday, March 8, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Calvary Hill Funeral Home, 21723 Aldine-Westfield Road, Humble, TX, followed by funeral services at noon. A committal service will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at Calvary Hill Cemetery.
