Ray Robinson, 85 of Modesto, CA, passed away peacefully in his sleep with his wife by his side on December 17, 2018. Ray was born on December 20, 1932 in Holdenville, Oklahoma. The Robinson’s moved to California when he was in grade school. Ray attended Turlock High School. Shortly thereafter, he joined the United States Army. After fulfilling his service as Private First Class, he returned home and married Zelpha Lou Gray on August 20, 1955. Ray worked as a glazier for Acme Glass Company, becoming a member of the Glaziers Union. He retired after 36 years and enjoyed 27 years of retirement with his family and friends. As a retiree, Ray was a self-made man, self-employed and entrepreneur. He enjoyed life the fullest. His favorite pastimes included being a member of the Good Sam Camping Club, where he, his wife and three sons enjoyed their dune buggy, boating, tubing and water skiing at the lake. Always ready, willing and able to help others, Ray successfully restored numerous homes in the Modesto area offering residents and exceptional, affordable place to call home. Restoring classic cars was a favorite hobby of his.
He is, survived by his wife of 63 years Zelpha Lou Robinson. Children; Michael Ray Robinson (Leanne) of Stockton, CA, Donald Leon Robinson (Renee) of Rancho Cordova, CA, Betty Lavon Hawley of Corning, CA. Brothers; Russell Robinson of Hughson, CA, Leroy Robinson of Nampa, ID, Jimmy Robinson of Portsmouth, VA. Grandchildren; Levi Robinson Ceres, CA, Megan Robinson Korea (Army), Donald Ray Robinson Killeen, TX, Matt Zackery Robinson (Navy), Brandon Robinson. Great Grandchildren; Silas and Zayden Robinson, Killeen, TX. Preceded in death parents Herman and Ruby Robinson and son Larry Dennis Robinson.
