Dorothy Mae Noble

Dorothy Mae Arnold Noble was born January 4, 1923, in Don Pedro, California, to Charles and Edna Mae Arnold. Her father was the superintendent at Don Pedro Dam. Dorothy grew up in the foothills, traveling 30 miles to Sonora on the school bus every day, a fact that gave her and her friends the nickname "The Dam Girls". As a young woman living in Modesto in the 1930s, Dorothy was a beautician and then bookkeeper who caught the eye of Charles Noble when they both worked at the Modesto Dodge dealership. After their courtship, the two married on November 30, 1946 and recently celebrated 71 years together. In the course of their married life, Dorothy and Chuck worked together to purchase and maintain several commercial properties in the local area. Dorothy worked as bookkeeper and homemaker while her husband and son developed the property management business. Later in their married life, the two enjoyed travelling and visited many countries as well as taking trips around the U.S. in their motor home.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her brothers Charles Arnold and Jim Arnold. She is survived by her husband, Charles Noble, daughter Linda (and Steve) Ray, son David Noble (and Sheila Jacoby), grandchildren Erin Noble, Caitlin Ray and Charles Ray, Joe, Stephanie and Monica Gorguhlo, and great granddaughter Madison. A memorial and internment ceremony will be held at Heritage Chapel, Lakewood Memorial Park on Thursday, August 24th at 11 a.m. Donations in Dorothy's name can be made to Community Hospice.
