Diana entered this world prematurely on November 15, 1963, the youngest child of Carol and Nelson Vaughan. She left prematurely too, on April 21, 2016. Diana's first months were spent in the hospital due to her premature birth and a serious lung disease. She rebounded, and developed a love of gymnastics and roller skating in her youth.
She spent many happy days at the family property in the Santa Cruz mountains, and many warm summer days at the Santa Cruz Boardwalk. She enjoyed the company of her childhood friends Barry and Brian Elting, and cherished those relationships her entire life. She attended Sylvan Elementary and Somerset Middle school, then Fred C. Beyer High School, where she met her future husband, Doug. Diana graduated in the Beyer High class of 1982. She worked downtown at the Readmore Bookstore on 11th Street, and there formed a lifelong friendship with co-workers Trudy Taylor and Doreen Lester. On Valentine's Day, 1986, she married Douglas Belyeu, and the high school sweethearts enjoyed a loving marriage of 30 years following their honeymoon in Carmel-by-the-Sea, a location always dear to Diana's heart. They were blessed with two beautiful daughters, Jennifer and Jordan.
Diana was a sincere and caring friend, wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed music, swimming, dancing, comedy, and an occasional trip to the casinos. She had a quick wit and a charming laugh. She had a giving heart and kind spirit, and she was a genuine, loving soul with a sweet smile. She was particularly fond of working in her yard when her health permitted, and she loved being visited by the Ladybugs and Dragonflies. She loved visiting and enjoying dinners with her 'aunt' Pattie Murphy, her nephew Justin Landucci and his precious family, and her close friends, Trudy, Doreen, Leslyn and David and neighbors Bob and Howard. She adored her grandchildren. She gave completely of herself, and dedicated herself to caring for those she loved, including her many pets. Diana was preceded in death by her brothers Jeff and Paul, and by her parents, Carol and Nelson.
Diana passed away suddenly after a lengthy struggle with Atrial fibrillation and other ailments, at the age of 52. She leaves behind her husband, daughters Jennifer Blair (Ross), and Jordan, and 5 beloved grandchildren: Anthony, Haylee, Kendall, Madelyn and William, who called her Grandma Honey. We love you and miss you terribly, and although our hearts are breaking we know how you suffered and take some comfort in knowing you are now free of that pain and in a state of peaceful slumber. You could never be replaced, and will live on in our hearts. Rest well, Diana, my one and only true love, until we meet again.
A Memorial Service and Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, April 30th, 206 at 3:00PM in the Riverside Chapel at Lakewood Funeral Home 900 Santa Fe Avenue, Hughson, CA.
