Las Vegas, Nevada, on July 31, 1969, to the late Garland Johnson and Johnnie Lomax. Yvette
was a proud 1987 graduate of Western High School, and she earned a Bachelor of Science in
Nursing. As a Registered Nurse, she dedicated her life to the care and well-being of others,
leaving a lasting impact on all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Yvette's legacy extends beyond her career. She was a loving and devoted daughter, sister, and
friend. Her warm spirit, infectious smile, and sense of humor brought joy to all who knew her.
Yvette’s love for life and the people she cared for was immeasurable, and her family and friends
will dearly miss her, and the many lives she impacted as a nurse.
Yvette was engaged to her devoted partner, Irome Pryer, who was a loving, caring, and patient
companion for many years. She was deeply passionate about her family, particularly her
children, grandson, and friends. Her legacy of love and dedication will live on in her children:
Ashlyn Harris, Jordan Johnson, and Julian James; her beloved grandson, Jamari Tolliver; and
her siblings: Larry Catron, Darren Bazile, Garland (Jevol) Johnson, Jeremy Johnson, and Yvette
Simmons.
Yvette’s spirit also lives on in her extended family, including nieces Ebony Catron, Tigra Amos,
Mejiah and Marcella Johnson, Triniti Guillory, and nephews Jonathan Norsworthy and Israel
Johnson. She is survived by her sisters-in-law, Lillia Freeman, and Christine Johnson, along
with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and many dear friends, including her devoted friend
Shonnan Hall-Brown.
Throughout her life, Yvette was an enthusiastic and devoted member of several travel clubs in
and around the Houston area. Her adventurous spirit led her to explore the world with those she
loved, creating memories that will be cherished forever. Her vibrant presence will be deeply
missed by all who knew her, but the love she shared and the joy she brought will continue to live
on in their hearts. Yvette was a lifelong fan of the Dallas Cowboys and a passionate Marvel
enthusiast. A true fan of fashion, she was the queen of style and the ultimate diva.
A memorial service will be held in March of 2025 to celebrate Yvette's life and legacy.
Instead of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to a cancer charity of your
choice in Yvette's memory.
