With profound sadness we announce that on Tuesday, April 26, 2022, the Williams family lost the Patriarch of the family at the age of 80. William Henry Williams Sr. aka “Henry” was a loving Father, Grandfather, and uncle. He was known as “Stringbean” if you knew him during his younger years as an athlete, where he was the Football and Basketball Captain. Henry lost his life after his health declined
after an unfortunate fall that led to a broken femur requiring surgery. Henry passed away in the arms of his son, William “Henney” Williams Jr.
Henry was born in Mullins, South Carolina on April 3,1942. He received an athletic scholarship to college. He enlisted in the United States Army in April 1964 and served through 1966; from which he received a Good Conduct Medal. He was a great craftsman and master carpenter who could build anything with his hands. He loved his profession as a master carpenter, and enjoyed working on high rise buildings in New York. He then relocated to Harrisburg, PA and worked on several new construction homes until his retirement. He loved listening to jazz music, particularly Miles Davis and John Coltrane. He could listen to a jazz song, and tell you the exact name of the musician on each instrument.
His friends and family will remember him as someone who demonstrated unconditional love, and who would always find the good in anyone. He embraced and accepted everyone as they were. Henry will be remembered for his big heart and his love for his family. He was happily married for 38 years to Barbara Jean Williams until her passing in 2003. He was the family unifier and bridge. He always made a constant effort to ensure that everyone knew each other, and stayed connected as family.
Friends and family are invited to join the William’s family on May 13, 2022, at 2 p.m.for a celebration of life service. Join us at Brookside Funeral Home-Cypress Creek on 9149 Hwy 6 N, Houston, TX 77095.
