William Hugh McCollough died peacefully on Sunday, the 3rd of April, 2011 at Memorial Hermann Hospital. As in life, he was surrounded by people who loved him dearly. Bill was born in 1928 in Muskogee, Oklahoma and raised in Pryor, Oklahoma.
After receiving his law degree from the University of Oklahoma, he worked for many years at Texas Eastern Corporation, where he served as Senior Vice President, and at Petrolane, as CEO. After retirement, he continued to pursue his many interests, including world events, history, astronomy, and scientific innovations. He enjoyed traveling, playing tennis, bridge, and engaging in discussions with members of his book club. He also had an awesome sense of humor and an optimistic view of life.
Bill is preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, the late Mary Lou Midkiff McCollough; and his son-in-law, the late Berkley Bailey. He is survived by his wife, Anna Belle Baker-McCollough; and his children, Martha McCollough, Bill McCollough, Katherine McCollough Yzaguirre and her husband, his son-in-law, Mark Yzaguirre. He is also survived by his step-children, J. Lee Baker and Baranna Baker; his grandchildren, Brooks McCollough Bailey, Elizabeth Yzaguirre, Taj Robinson and Iris Baker; and his brothers-in-law, Baron Clements and Chris Clements.
Our family is grateful for the care given to Dad by his personal physicians, Dr. Cyril Wolf and Dr. Joel Abramowitz; as well as the staff at Memorial Hermann Hospital – Memorial City.
The memorial service is to be conducted at eleven o’clock in the morning on Thursday, the 7th of April, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston, where Rev. Mark Edminston-Lange, Co-Pastor of Emerson Unitarian Universalist Church, is to officiate. Immediately following the service, all are invited to greet the family during a reception in the adjacent Grand Foyer.
