Welton Clarence Smith

Welton married Nancy Foster in June 1958.

Welton graduated from Marlin High School in Marlin, Texas in 1954 and graduated from Texas Tech University with a Petroleum Engineering degree in 1961.

Welton started his career in the oil industry with Pan American, working in Andrews, Midland, and Odessa, Texas. He then worked for Depco in Odessa, Texas, followed by Sioux Natural Gas in Brownwood, Texas. He ended his career with Goldston Oil in Houston, Texas.

Welton was a member of Northlake Church in Lago Vista, Texas.

Welton loved sports, spending time with his family, being at his ranch, and playing cards, winning most games.

Welton is survived by Nancy Smith, wife of 66 years, son Kevin Smith and wife Robin, daughter Ceil Harris and husband, Steve, grand children Sydney and Ben Byers, Haley and Kris Martinez, Cory Harris and Shaffer Smith, four great grand children Brady, Reagan, and Peyton Byers and Luke Martinez.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Mary Smith, sister Mary Beth Krupp, sister Billie Allen, and grandson Hayden Smith.

Funeral services for Welton are scheduled at 1:00pm Saturday, March 29, 2025 at Northlake Church, 3610 Lohman Ford Road, Lago Vista, Texas 78645 and also a gravesite service at 2:00pm Sunday, March 30 at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home & Cemetery, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas 77079. All are welcome.
