Wanda Taylor Stacy

Wanda Geraldine Taylor was born August 20, 1935 in Greenville, Texas, the oldest of three girls born to Cleveland and Juanita Taylor. She split her growing years between Houston, Texas and Logansport, Louisiana graduating from Logansport High School in 1953. Returning to Houston, she began her first job with the Memorial Hospital System in downtown Houston and renewed her acquaintance with an old friend from 4th grade, Thomas Donnie Stacy. Wanda married Donnie on August 20, 1954, her 19th birthday. Wanda was the primary support and encourager while Donnie finished college. Children expanded the family - Chris, Kathy, David, and later Shari. Through a stint in the military and two more college degrees Wanda and Donnie built a life, career, and family in South Carolina, Texas, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Illinois, Canada and finally back to Texas.

Returning to Houston led Wanda to the next great adventure of her life - grandchildren. Wanda adored her family and loved her grandchildren deeply. Fourteen by birth and three by marriage brought her total grandchild count to 17 and she loved them all. Through vacations, gifts, tea parties, swimming, cookouts and her kind, quiet attention, she gave her love freely and without reserve. Wanda's legacy expands through the birth of her first great-grandchild with another on the way.

Wanda is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Donnie Stacy. She is survived by her children, Chris and Frances Stacy, Jeff and Kathy Cameron, Dave and Kay Stacy, and Scott and Shari Correll. She will be greatly missed by her granddaughters Leah Cameron Williams, Laura Stacy, Addison Stacy, Emeree Stacy, Kenadie Stacy, Eliot Correll, Hayley Stacy, and Maribeth Cameron. Her grandsons will serve as Pallbearers: Adam Cameron, Blake Riley, Ryan Cameron, Taylor Cameron, John Stacy, Thomas Stacy, Alexander Riley, Owen Correll, and Grant Williams. She is further survived by two sisters, Pauline Harper and Joyce Owen, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Wanda was a true steel magnolia; her southern charm was paralleled only by her strength of character and perseverance. She leaves behind countless memories of her grace and kindness with those she loved.
