Verna "Maxine" Rawls quietly left her earthly life to be with her Lord and Saviour on October 8, 2015. She was 87 years young, born to Carmen "Gladys" Owens and Gomer Lee Owens on January 16, 1928, in Lee County, Texas. She graduated from high school in Lexington, Texas, and soon after moved to Houston, TX where she met the love of her life, C.S. "Chuck" Rawls. They married May 21, 1949, and on March 5, 1959, were blessed with the love and joy of their lives, Jeffrey Charles Rawls. Maxine was a member of Spring Branch Christian Church (now Crossbridge Christian Church) for over 50 years.
Maxine was preceded in death by her loving husband Chuck, and two brothers, Bennie Owens and "Pepper" Owens. She is survived by her loving son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey Charles and Mary Ellen Rawls of Hockley, TX; her precious grandchildren, Joseph Christopher and Kelley Ann Rawls of Houston, TX; her sisters, Mary Beth Burgess of Lexington, TX, and Becky Wright of Bastrop, TX; her brothers and their wives, Kenneth and Lorita Owens of Bandera, TX, and Ronald and Alice Owens of Troy, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews, and she dearly loved each and every one.
Friends may call at Waltrip Funeral Directors, between 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 13, 2015, where the family will be present to receive friends. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 14, 2015, at Crossbridge Christian Church, 15415 West Road, with Pastor Kevin Pigg, officiating. Interment will follow at Willow Creek Cemetery, Tomball, TX.
