Elder Tyler Fort was born on December 30, 1928, to John and Rosie Fort. As he grew up in the East Texas town of Yellowpine, Tyler developed a love of the Lord God. His willingness to do God's will was evident in his service as a Deacon at Shady Missionary Baptist Church and as an Elder and member of the Men's Choir at University Christian Church. In his early adult years, Tyler married Carolyn Lenox of Shreveport, Louisiana. Although they had no children through this union, he was proud to call Carolyn's child, Willie Lee Russell and his children, his own. In 1988, Tyler was joined in marriage to Reverend Lois Marie Andrews. After years of living in the city of Houston, they realized their dream of returning to a life in the country. On many days, Tyler could be found at their home in Brookshire, TX, tending the gardens, tinkering in the work shed, or simply enjoying an afternoon on the porch. Tyler also enjoyed outdoor sports and was an avid hunter and fisherman. After a long life, filled with the love of God, family, and friends, Tyler was called Home on January 21, 2014. He was preceded in death by both parents, John and Rosie Fort; first wife, Carolyn Fort; step son, Willie Lee Russell; brother, John Wesley Fort; and sisters, Rose Fort, Mary Kersh and Corine Wint. Left to cherish memories of his life are his loving wife, Lois; sisters, Lula Gipson, Loneat Brooks, and Velma Moore; step-children, Ricardo Andrews (LaTanya), Patrick Andrews (Pippa), Katina Wilhite (Gordon), and Demetra Andrews (Eric Weldy); God Son, Jimmy Boutte Sr. (Octavia); step-grandchildren, Joyce Ratcliff, Carolyn Jeanette Lewis, Janice Russell, Tanisha Smith, Angela Butler, LaChelle Andrews, Ian Andrews, Jimmy Boutte Jr., Terri Boutte, Iman Andrews, Ashley Boutte, Shelby Wilhite, and Alexis Wilhite; nephew, Charles Gipson (Margaret); and many other nieces, nephews, family members and friends. Tyler's caring spirit brought joy to many. We celebrate his life!
