Tristan O’Tierney passed away unexpectedly on February 23rd, 2019 in Ocala, FL at the age of 35. Tristan is survived by his parents, Pamela Tierney of Cypress, Texas and Mark Tierney of Irving, Texas, his daughter Rumi Ari O’Tierney (age 3) of San Pablo, his girlfriend, Anjela Ramos of Los Angeles, CA, his half-sister Terri Cloud in Cypress TX, and numerous Aunts, Uncles nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Tristan was born on August 1st, 1983 in Adak, AK and lived in several states before moving to Syracuse, NY. He graduated from the Rochester Institute of Technology in 2008 with a degree in Computer Science. After moving to the Silicon Valley, Tristan began working for Yahoo! as an engineer on the Yahoo! Messenger Team. He later went on to hold positions at Apple, VMware, and Tapulous before co-founding Square, the company which revolutionized payments in 2009 making it possible for anyone to accept card payments using a smartphone or a tablet computer.
On top of being an award-winning Apple developer, Tristan was an accomplished photographer who traveled the globe in search for that perfect moment to capture. His photography won significant recognition and was used by major publications. Tristan was also a sought-after speaker regularly sharing his experience and passion to help others.
A memorial is scheduled for Sunday, March 3rd at 3pm at Brookside Funeral Home in Houston Texas, with a reception to follow. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Tristan’s life. There will also be a separate memorial service in San Francisco in approximately 2-3 weeks.
