Don was one of the few native Houstonians who never lived anywhere else. He grew up in the Sagemont area of Houston and graduated from Dobie High School in 1977 where he played basketball and was well known and liked among his peers, many of whom he remained friends with until his passing.
One of his favorite past times growing up was riding motorcycles and competing in various motocross races. No memory about motocross was complete unless he recounted the time he raced in the Astrodome. Don was a constant competitor in all things. He played league basketball until his hips said no more then moved to road cycling where he loved the challenge of the century ride. He enjoyed coaching his daughter and son’s various teams and attending all their extracurricular activities as they grew up. He was also fond of a tenbagger investment, the latest tech gadget, a smooth cup of coffee, fast cars, Neil Young music, a Galveston sunset and a good hat.
Above all else, Don is grateful to his parents for introducing him to his faith which grew and matured on his life journey. He was a devoted Jesus follower who desired to live a life pleasing to his Lord Jesus. He felt called to share God’s message of love to the world when diagnosed with ALS. He purchased the domain “GodLovesYou.com” and blogged messages of hope and faith for the world to read. His last post on Heaven touched thousands of souls.
Even though he has left this earth, the message of God’s love is eternal and one Don wanted all to know. Don has fought the good fight, finished the race, and has remained faithful and now his prize awaits….the crown of righteousness.
Don is survived by his wife, Marcia; father, Donald T. Baulch; sister Terri Royer; children, Margeaux (Michael) Jimenez, Grant Baulch, Madison (Chris) Wall, Connor (Amber) Longust, and grandchildren, Maxwell, McKinley, Levi, Mia, Clayton and Rosie.
