On Tuesday, December 13th, 2016, at the age of 39, Theodoric “Todd” Charles Bland III left this earthly world to meet our heavenly Father. He passed away peacefully at home and was surrounded by his loving and devoted wife and children. Although it was short, he fought an incredibly hard battle with cancer and never gave up. Throughout this trial, he never lost hope and gave his everything. Todd was an amazing husband, father, son, brother, and friend to all. He was fiercely loyal to anyone in his circle and all who knew him, loved him deeply. He was covered in love throughout his illness by so many wonderful and caring friends and certainly leaves behind a hole in our hearts.
Todd was born on September 27, 1977 in Houston, Texas. He is survived by his devoted wife of almost 15 years, Meredith McClure Bland, and their three precious children, Caroline 9, Campbell 7, and Charlie 2; his mother and father, Marylou and Ted Bland; his sister Leslie Bland Sloan and her husband Larry, and their three children. He is also survived by countless in-laws, cousins, and nieces and nephews who all adored him. He is proceeded in death by his grandparents, Margaret and Sylvan Parker, and Suzanne and Theodoric Bland.
Todd graduated from Stratford High School in 1996 and went on to get his undergrad in Ag Economics from Texas A&M Class of 2000. He graduated with his Masters in Land, Economics and Real Estate (LEAR Program) from Texas A&M as well in 2001. He was always proud to be an Aggie. Todd worked as a commercial real estate appraiser for Gary Brown and Associates for 14 years.
Todd was an Eagle Scout, a member at Chapelwood United Methodist Church, and a member of the Valley Lodge Trail Ride Association. Todd loved cars; especially his 1968 Bronco and his Jeep CJ7. He worked to rebuild both with his father. It gave them so much joy. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and cherished his time in the blind or on the water with his best friends. Being one in nature with his friends brought him great joy and laughter.
Todd prided himself in being loyal and devoted to both his family and his friends. He maintained friendships that were as old as he was and never missed the opportunity to be with them when they needed him. As a testament to him, they repaid the favor. We are so humbled by the love his friends showered upon him during his illness and cannot thank them enough for the devotion to him and the Bland family.
Todd’s family was his number one priority and he was an incredible husband and father. His children cherished him and he will be sorely missed. His wife, Meredith, was his pride and joy. From the day they met, they knew they were destined to be together. She never left his side and for this, we are so grateful. His smile was contagious and brought happiness to all that surrounded him.
