Officiating: Pastor Samuel Compton Sr.
2 Corinthians 5:1
“For we know that if the earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.”
On September 17, 1948, Charles and Ruby Flowers with Florence L. Hudson and Marvin Living welcomed a beautiful daughter, Terry Elaine Hudson in the city of Houston, Texas.
She accepted Christ at an early age and graduated from Logansport High School in Logansport, Louisiana. She continued her education at Grambling State University in Grambling, Louisiana. She met and married the love of her life, Amos Maple with whom she shared over fifty years with and to this union two children were born, Erika and Charlton (Chuck).
She was employed by the City of Houston Aviation Department as an Administrative Assistant for over thirty years. Elaine loved worshiping her Lord; and her favorite hobbies included traveling, laughing and talking with her family and friends. However, spoiling and loving on her Grandchildren was always important to her.
As a worship warrior, Sister Maple was a member of the Greater Northside Antioch Baptist Church for over thirty-five years under the leadership of Pastor Reginald C. Rose. She then became and remained a faithful member of Mount Canaan Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Samuel Compton Sr. She was known for her beautiful smile, fun spirit and could always be seen offering her praise. She served in Mission I and Home and Extension auxiliaries. She was also a member of the Ministers and Deacons, and Trustees’ Wives ministry.
Elaine understood with certainty that her assignment on the earth was temporary and accepted her wings the morning of Sunday, May 24, 2020.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her siblings Onjel Roach, and Andra G. Living.
She is survived by her husband Amos Maple, her daughter Erika Kyles (John Kyles III), son Charlton Maple (Shekitra Bradley), sisters Cherry Thompson, Ann Outing, Natheleck Janice, and LaTonya Batties. Granddaughter Chase Kyles, grandsons John “Quad” Kyles IV, and Jourdan Kyles (Kiana Kyles).
