It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of our beloved Tammy Lynn Davis Goan, AKA “Aunt Tam”. She departed from this life December 3, 2023 at her home in Rosharon, Texas, at the age of 60, leaving a void that can never be filled.
Tammy was a spirited and gentle soul who touched the hearts of those around her with a kindness and warmth that was truly extraordinary. She was born December 7, 1962 in Beech Grove, Indiana, to Richard Davis and Patricia Harris Cargle. She was the second of four daughters. Tammy and her family moved to Miami, Florida, when she was very young, where she, being a friend to all furry creatures, first began a lifelong love of horses. She rode for pleasure as well as showing horses. She won many first place ribbons which she proudly displayed. Her love of music and dance began at a young age when she was a Miami Dade Mini Marcher, marching in parades to choreographed baton dance pieces.
At the age of 14 Tammy and her family moved to Houston, Texas, where she attended school at Alief Hastings High School and worked at Great Skate where she met her future husband, Chris Goan. Chris and Tammy married in 1987 and spent 36 happy years together on their property, in Rosharon, Texas, with their many fur babies. Tammy possessed a unique spirit and was always drawn to care for all furry friends she encountered. She loved and cherished her dogs, cats and seven longhorn cattle, whom she hand-fed daily. She loved to exercise by walking her property followed by her beloved pets. Tammy worked for the Pearland Independent School District for 20 years, most recently at Berry Miller Jr. High school. She was a proud Bobcat and she was planning to retire in the next year. Tammy was loved and adored by all of her nieces and nephews along with her friends, their children and the children she served lunch to every day in the school cafeteria where she worked. She would never let a child go hungry or feel unloved. Her life was filled with laughter and joy and her smile was infectious. To know her truly was to love her.
She is preceded in death by her father Richard D. Davis and is survived by her loving husband Chris Goan, Her mother Patricia Harris Cargle and her step-father Virgil Cargle, her mother-in-law Janice Goan, her sisters Kim Suarez (Bob), Kelli Underhill, Sheri Marie Abner (Rob), Step-sisters Janice Bargas (Phil) and Phyllis Kowis (Chris), Step-brother Scott Cargle (Susan), Brother-in-law Jeff Goan (Staci), Nieces and nephews, Brandon Suarez (Melissa), Natalie Podraza, Blake Suarez, Jason Underhill, Megan Ruckman (Bruce), Halli Underhill, Kody Underhill (Trinh), Duke Abner, Kerigan Abner, Jacob Goan, Joshua Goan, and Morgan Goan. Great nieces and great nephews Chloe Suarez, Gavin Podraza, Sophia Suarez, Olivia Suarez, Aaron Underhill & Allen Underhill - (due in January), Asa Underhill, all of her loving aunts, uncles, cousins and so many other friends and family members too numerous to mention.
She was a devoted Catholic, a loving wife, a cherished daughter, a treasured sister, a fun-loving and generous aunt and a loyal friend with an infectious laughter and a compassionate heart. She never met a stranger and she brightened every room with her presence and will never be forgotten. Her love for life was palpable and she had the uncanny ability to find the beauty in the simplest of things.
