Susana Herrera, 89, of Houston, Texas entered into rest on February 27, 2019. She was born in Torreon, estado de Coahuila, Mexico on August 11, 1929, to parents Jose Natividad Vazquez and Maria Concepcion Salazar de Vazquez.
She was married to Pablo Fernando Herrera on July 3, 1946, and during their blissful years, they created a big beautiful family. Susana dedicated her entire life to raising her children and made sure she was always there for them, not once did she ever give up. She always made sure her children had food on the table and a roof over their heads. Although she was perceived as being stern, she was a caring mom and grandma. She was also a friend to everyone she came across. She was family oriented and loved to take part in all the family events. Susana loved all things purple and the smell of gardenias. She was also a loyal member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Oralia Avila, her grandson Stevie Herrera, and many other loved ones. She is survived by her children Faustino, Esteban, Franciso, Arturo Jaime, Fernando, Alfredo, and Aurora; grandchildren Jaime, Christy, Joel, Michelle, Eric, Efren, Edward, Maggie, Yvonne, Agustin Jr, Sally, Alex, Andrew, Amanda, Yvette, Chris, Veronica, Francisco Jr., Cynthia, Pablo Fernando, Jessica, Susie, Fernando the 2nd, Susana, Arturo Jaime (Jimbo), Arturo Jaime (Art), Marissa, Melissa, Alfredo Jr., Annette, Abigail, Amy, April, Nidia, Salvador Jr., Saul B., Annabel, Ricardo, and Noemi; along with many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held in Susana's honor on Monday, March 4, 2019, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. inside the Chapel of American Heritage Funeral Home, 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77038. The Funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. inside the Chapel of St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 2730 Nelwood Drive, Houston, Texas 77038, after which she will be escorted to Morales Cemetery, 912 Buschong Street, Houston, Texas 77039, where she will be laid to rest. Following the committal service, please join us for a reception at Blue Island Banquet Hall, 3336 Frick Rd Houston, Texas 77086
