Sherry Sutton entered the Kingdom of Heaven on July 23, 2016 after a courageous two year battle with cancer. Sherry lived a beautiful life, filled with love for her husband, family and friends, and an abiding passion for all animals, especially her precious pets.
Sherry was born in St. Louis Mo. on March 30, 1946 to James Mitchell and Lorraine Misplair. Shortly after graduating from high school, Sherry went to Hawaii and fell in love with the islands. She and her devoted husband Mike frequently vacationed at KoOlina on Oahu, on Kaanapali Beach on Maui and on The Big Island. Although Sherry was a fearful flyer, she didn’t let that fear prevent her from traveling to the many places that she and Mike visited, including London, Paris, Capri, Santorini, Positano, Rome, Athens, Venice, and all the major cities in the U.S. and Canada, to name but a few. She loved smooth jazz and went on several cruises featuring that music.
Sherry served as a guardian ad litem for several years for Child Advocates and had a loving heart for all the children she counseled and represented.
She is survived by her loving and caring husband Michael Sutton, her mother Lorraine Robbins, her two brothers Ted and Wayne Lepper, her two step-daughters Kris O’Shea and Amanda Elguezabal, their husbands Tim and Alex, and her granddaughters, whom she adored, Laney and Lexi Elguezabal.
Sherry has many very special and loving friends, including Jan Carson, Tim Connolly, Sandra Larsen, Karen and George Sims, Carol and Dr. Tom Sawyer, Trish and Sam Bravenec, Al and Sherry Deaver, Millie and Mel Anhalt, Vicky Leveridge, Carolyn and Mike Reinecker, Tom Becker and Jim Rosenfeld, Liz Martinez, and all her dancing buddies at the Houstonian in Bob Luna’s class.
Special thanks to the doctors and nurses at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center and Memorial Hermann as well as the care givers and nurses of Visiting Angels, Family Tree and Vitas.
A memorial service will be held in the Chapel at Chapelwood Methodist Church on Wednesday July 27, 2016 at 10 am. A reception at the church will follow the memorial.
