Shelley Susan Jackson peacefully completed her life's journey at age 57 on Saturday, the 20th of October 2012, at home surrounded by family and friends. She fought her battle against cancer with grace, courage, dignity, and humor. She was supported by her family and friends during her battle.
Shelley was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on November 17, 1954. She graduated from Woodward High School in Cincinnati and she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Ohio University in 1976. She met her husband Jim while attending Ohio University. She started a career in banking in Chicago, Illinois where she and Jim were married. After marrying Jim, she also worked in banking in Cleveland, Ohio and Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Shelley is survived by her husband Jim; sons Justin and wife Kristen, and Brandon; mother Faye Kotkin; mother and father-in-law Mary and Jim Jackson; brothers-in-law Steve Jackson and his wife Robin, Joe Jackson and his wife Kathy, Pat Jackson and his wife Dayna and Chris Jackson and his wife Lori; sister-in-law Fran Meinert and her husband Denis; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Shelley was a loving wife, mother, daughter and friend. She enjoyed traveling, scrapbooking, exercising, reading and cooking. She was a cub scout den leader and active supporter of her kids' sports teams. She was also a big sports fan and a season ticket holder to the Houston Rockets and Texans. Everyone who knew her adored her.
A visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the funeral service which will be at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, October 25, 2012, in the Chapel of Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Freeway, with Rabbi Anne Belford officiating.
Interment will follow in Memorial Oaks Cemetery with a reception to follow immediately afterward in the Allen room.
