Sharon Lee Smith

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Sharon Lee Smith on October 4, 2024. Sharon was born in Rochester, New York on June 27, 1943 and dedicated her life to caring for others. After completing her nursing education at Fitzgerald Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, she married in 1967 and later settled in Houston, Texas. In her long, fulfilling career as a nurse, her compassion and commitment left a lasting impact on her patients and colleagues alike.

Sharon was actively involved in her church and community, volunteering at St. Albert's Catholic Church and St. Thomas More. She cherished her family and treasured every moment spent with them. Many of her nieces and nephews spent time living with her in Houston. After retiring, she continued to be active in her community and went to weekly coffee hour with her exercise group.

She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Louise Smith, her sister Patricia Smith, and her son Kevin Smith. She is survived by her sister Joan Brooks and husband Jerry; daughters Melissa Bunner and Nicole Roberts and daughter-in-law Melissa Schumann Smith; grandchildren Madison, Mackenzie, Brooke, Reece, Carson, and Jaxson; and her beloved great-granddaughter Miller.

Her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her, and she will be deeply missed. Services will be held at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home on November 8th at 2:00pm (13001 Katy Fwy, Houston, TX 77079). In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Catholic Charities USA, Alzheimer's Foundation of America, or a charity of your choice.
