She is survived by her husband, William Kirkland Baker of Houston; daughters: Suzan Baker Phenicie of Houston and Jessica Baker of New York; son: Mark Baker of Houston; sons-in-law: Jim Phenicie of Houston and Josh Brandfonbrener of New York; grandson: William Phenicie of Houston; step-grandchildren: James Brandfonbrener, Alex Brandfonbrener, and Mattie Brandfonbrener of New York; and beloved schnauzer, Kimi.
For over 30 years she worked as a speech pathologist for Fort Bend ISD where she formed lifetime friendships and made a difference in countless lives. She loved her family (two- and four-legged), her students, a good book, gardening, the Astros, Hawaii, trying a new recipe, reading The Chronicle front-to-back, and a nice salt-rimmed blood orange margarita.
We will greatly miss her charm, wit, and warmth. She was an original.
Visitation (May 14 at 1:30-4) and service (May 15 at 2) will be held at Forest Park Westheimer.
