Ruby passed away from complications related to cancer, in her home with friends and family at her side. Adored and admired by so many, Ruby is finally reuniting with her loving husband, Lynn Zimmerman, who passed away three years ago with her at his side. They would have recently celebrated their 64th anniversary.
Ruby was born in Missouri and raised in Oklahoma, where she and Lynn first met, and they raised three children; Jeffrey Zimmerman (4/54 - 8/09), Sheri Zimmerman-Herwig and Brent Zimmerman. They also have three grandchildren — Daniel, Shay, and Andy — along with five great grandchildren.
Once their first child arrived, Ruby devoted herself to raising her family and making an amazing home. And not just one home — upon celebrating their 23rd anniversary, this young couple had moved 23 times! And she made every one of those 23 houses feel like a home. Her caring and generous nature was exemplified in her more than 30 years as a volunteer at Houston Northwest Medical Center, which included involvement in the scholarship program and a term as President.
She was the daughter of Ruben and Mildred Taylor, and the second of six siblings; Mary, Wanda, George, Vernon and Margret. Ruby leaves a legacy of generosity, devotion and love. She will be greatly missed by many.
The family cordially requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (www.bcrfcure.org). Services will be held at 10:30AM on Saturday, October 1, at The Forum at Memorial Woods, 777 N. Post Oak Rd., Houston, TX 77024.
