Roy Jones

Roy Jones was born in Carlton, Texas on the 30th of July 1931, to parents, Reuben C. and Stella L. (nee Chick) Jones. He passed away in Giddings, Texas on Sunday, the 1st of April 2012, at the age of 80 years, 8 months and 1 day.

Roy was a member of Scurry Masonic Lodge #706 A.F. & A.M. He was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason and enjoyed visiting lodges in other communities. Roy retired a Mac Tools salesman, and a small engine repairman.

Roy was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dorothy Alma (nee Gerkin) Jones on Friday, the 15th of August 2008; his brothers, Alvin and R.C., and by his sisters, Lottie Montgomery, Antha Rayburn, and Velma Horton. He is survived by two sisters, Thelma McPherson of Lipan, Texas and Retha Spaulding of San Antonio, Texas; daughters, Kathy Brownell and husband Denny of Grand Island, Nebraska, Cindy Lowe and husband Alger, Sugar Land, Texas; son, Warren Jones and his children; daughter, Sandy Roberson & husband Randy of Paige, Texas; grandchildren, Brian Brownell and wife Julie, Jamie Schwaninger and husband David, Amber Lowe, Jeff Snedecor and girlfriend Sissy, and Lori Stafford. Roy is also survived by eight great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.

The family would like to thank the staff members of Brazos Valley Hospice and Oakland Manor Nursing Center, for the loving care provided to our dear Roy.

Family and friends will gather for a graveside service to be conducted by Reverend M. Eugene Vickrey at one o’clock in the afternoon on Wednesday, the 4th of April in Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, 3900 B.F. Terry Boulevard, Rosenberg, Texas 77471, (281) 341-8800.
