Rosemary L. Tade

Rosemary Tade was born in Turon, Kansas, February 1, 1924 to mother Carey and father Arthur Laughlin. She was the youngest of six children, including brothers Arthur, Walter,Lloyd and sisters Margaret and Helen. She grew up on a farm three miles east and three miles south of Turon.

Rosemary graduated from Turon High School in 1942. Her high school senior class included several lifelong friends: Muriel Raines, Ellen Dickerson, Cleo Brannan and Mildred Johnson. Rosemary kept in contact with these friends for more than 70 years.

During World War II, she moved to Wichita, Kansas and worked for Cessna Aircraft building gliders for the army. After the war, while attending Wichita State University, Rosemary met her future husband, Glenn Tade. They were married October 20, 1946, in Haven, Kansas. Rosemary and Glenn began their marriage in Wichita, Kansas. In 1950, their first son, Lindsay was born.

In 1952, they moved to Lyons, Kansas, where Glenn had a job with Texaco Oil Co. Their second son, Tim was born that year. In 1953, Glenn and Rosemary were transferred to Burden, Kansas, where they rented a house for $ 35/mo. Texaco transferred Glenn to Great Bend, Kansas in 1955. Rosemary’s daughter, Julie was born in 1956.

In 1959, the family moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma. Rosemary, Glenn and the kids enjoyed living in Tulsa. They had many wonderful trips to the hills and rivers of eastern Oklahoma camping, fishing and floating down the Illinois River and Flint Creek.

Rosemary and the family moved to Houston, Texas, in 1964, where Glenn worked as an accountant with Texaco. They bought a house in the Spring Branch area of Houston. Rosemary and Glenn were active members of Spring Branch Christian Church. Rosemary sang in the choir.

Rosemary enjoyed traveling and in 1976, she and Julie went to Europe to visit her son Lindsay who was living in The Hague, Netherlands. She had a great trip, driving through the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Germany and England. Rosemary and her son Tim, went to Switzerland in 1979 for the wedding of Lindsay and his wife, Lilian.

In the 1980’s, Rosemary and Glenn became grandparents to Lilly, Lorene, Caroline, Ryan and Miles. She was called “Mimi” by her grandchildren and greatly enjoyed the time she spent with them.

Rosemary’s husband Glenn passed away in 1996. She continued to live in their Spring Branch house until 2010 when she moved to Treemont Retirement Community. In 2013, Rosemary was blessed with her first great grandchild, Amelie. Grace, her second great granddaughter, was born in 2015.

She faithfully went to her annual high school reunions in Turon, to meet with her friends.

Rosemary loved the Lord, her family and friends.

Visitation with the family was held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 1st at Waltrip Funeral Directors in Houston. A memorial service was held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 2, 2015, at St. Christopher Episcopal Church, 1656 Blalock, also in Houston. The Reverend Robert P. Goolsby officiated.
