Rosalinda (Rosie) Rodriguez Brewer, age 67, of Pearland, Texas went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, September 15, 2020. Rosalinda was born February 15, 1953 in Brownsville, Texas to Juan Garcia Rodriguez and Juanita Lerma Rodriguez.
Rosie graduated from UH-CL with a Masters in Bilingual Education in 1989 and Mid-Management in 1995. She received her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Texas A & I at Kingsville, now A & M. She worked as an elementary school teacher from 1976 to 2012. She was a bilingual teacher at Brownsville ISD from 1976 to 1984 teaching 1st grade, Texas City ISD from 1984 to 2006 teaching 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade, Alvin ISD from 2006 to 2012 teaching 4th and 5th grade. She was an Adjunct Professor to the School of Education at the University of Houston at Clear Lake from 2004 to 2006 teaching Language and Culture. In 2012 she retired from Alvin ISD with 26 years of teaching experience. After retirement, she became a Computer Class Instructor for Adults at Alvin Family Community Center from 2012 to 2016 in the Spring.
She was a devoted member of New Harvest Christian Fellowship under Pastor Keith Anderson. Rosie was strong in her faith to God. She was a prayer warrior who never gave up. Her love for God was steadfast and never-ending and continues now in his presence.
Rosie was a very giving person. She would be the first to volunteer her time, money and other contributions to those in need. She served by spreading the Gospel and feeding the hungry in downtown Houston as well as going to Galveston to spread the word of God. Rosie participated in several organized benefits in Alvin and other communities that brought help and relief to others. Rosie would help family when they were in need. This amazing godly woman went above and beyond in everything she did to help. Rosie set the example of what it means to place others before herself.
Rosie was a defender of her family. No one was permitted to attack her family in any way without answering to her. She would be strict with her children and grandchildren, but she would stand by their side if anyone mistreated them or spoke against them.
Rosie once wrote "I love to write so it is important to me for students to reflect their thoughts and their learning through journaling. I also have experience in teaching computer classes to adults. So I like to incorporate technology in student learning."
Rosie is preceded in death by her parents Juan Garcia Rodriguez and Juanita Lerma Rodriguez.
Rosie is survived by her husband, Kenneth E. Brewer Jr; daughter Amy P. Moctezuma; and son Eric G. Perez; 4 brothers, Juan Jose Rodriguez, Julian Rodriguez (Rosa Rodriguez), Ruben Rodriguez (Rosemary Rodriguez) and Jaime Rodriguez, 8 sisters, Trinidad Magaña, Gloria Shaw (Marcos Hernandez Jr.), Maria Elena Perez, Rosario Barrientos, Noemi Margenau, Nora Castillo, Leticia Peña (Rey Peña) and Marisela Martinez; 1 grandson Damian G.
