Rogelio C Velasquez passed away on July 12, 2024 at the God Love Assisted Living Home, Houston, Texas. He was fifty one years old when he was first diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in 1996. In 2022 he had a bad stroke that kept him homebound.
Rogelio is survived by his seven children, six daughters and a son, Denise and her husband Jeff Morgan, Melinda and her husband David Hallaran, Rozina and her husband Fayro Johnson, Gigi and her husband Adam Timson, Cynthia Fe and her husband Joe Hughes, Kristina and her husband Trey Wechsler and Sergio; fourteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren; siblings, Carmelita Dizon, Rowena Gonzalvo, Felipe, and his wife Teresita, Reynaldo and his wife Normina, three nephews and four nieces.
Rogelio was predeceased by his daughter Celeste Crystal, his parents Felipe Velasquez, Sr. and Iluminada Chua, his foster parents August Matzen and Fe Velasquez.
Rogelio was born on November 29, 1945 in Manila, Philippines. He grew up with his paternal grandparents and foster parents in Arayat, Pampanga were he also finished his primary and secondary education. He was in his second year of college in Manila when he decided to join the US Navy in 1966. A US Veteran he was deployed for Vietnam on board the USS Kearsarge (CVS-33) during the Vietnam war his first combat duty on board a combat ship. After his discharge in 1971, he settled in Corpus Christi, Texas. He worked for Westinghouse and thereafter set up his own appliance store and appliance maintenance shop. He worked for Sears as a Tech supervisor and was an appliance tech instructor at Del Mar College in Corpus Christi, Tx.
A gregarious and outgoing person, Roger enjoyed life. He loved fishing, bowling and tennis. He loves music. In his younger years, he organized a combo with his friends where he sang and played the guitar. He was active in the Filipino Association in Corpus Christi, TX and was a member of the Filipino dance troupe where they performed in various community functions. His friends called him Mr. Energy.
Memorial Services will be held on Aug 3, 2024, Saturday at the Notre Dame Church, 7720 Boone Rd, Houston, TX 77072.

Roger wrote a book regarding his life and is very grateful to cousin, Rene Velasquez in helping him editing, organizing and printing the book.
