Robert was preceded in death by his son, Robert Parse, Jr and brother Melvin Willard Parse, Jr.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Gloria, daughter, Ellen “Patty” Worthington; brother, Allan W. Parse and wife Mary Agnes Scott Parse; sister-in-law, Janet McKinney Parse; niece, Diana Lee Ball and husband Tim; nephew, Douglas Parse and wife Robin; great-nieces, Alisha Ball, Brinna Ball and Cerina Ball; great-nephews, Nathan Parse and Caleb Parse; along with numerous loving family and friends.
Robert was a loving, caring family man and friend who will be missed by everyone who knew him. He graduated from the University of Tulsa with a degree in Petroleum Engineering. While attending the University he met and later married his wife Gloria. In 1954 Robert began his career in the petroleum industry working for Humble Oil and Refining. He worked in many different positions through the years. He retired from Exxon in 1991 after 37 years of service with the company, holding the position of President of Monterrey Pipeline, a division of Exxon. Bob was passionate about the outdoors and worked actively with Texas Parks and Wildlife as related to hunting and fishing. He served on the Board of Directors of the Brazos River Rod and Gun Club for 22 years. He was a 35-year member of Chapelwood United Methodist Church.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, July 7, 2011, at Chapelwood United Methodist Church, 11140 Greenbay Street, Houston, Texas, 77024, 713-465-3467.
