Robert was born on August 15th, 1931 to JB and Olga Odom in Dallas, Texas. He attended Lamar High school in Houston after his family relocated to the Houston Heights in the 1940s.
Robert’s entrepreneurial spirit thrived in Houston where he established several businesses in the surrounding areas. His children and grandchildren will fondly remember the stories of his dairy delivery business, his motor exchange, his real estate investments, and his savvy business ways. He was no stranger to hard work and remained a sharp businessman even in “retirement”.
He left Houston for a change of pace in his 80’s, “retiring” to the small town of Onalaska, TX where he continued to build relationships within the community. In his last years, with his loyal dog at his side, he spent more time, and worked closer than ever with his sons and daughter who continued to run his real estate business. He was still very much involved in the day-to-day operations at the time of his passing.
He was a loving and generous brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He made friends everywhere he went and didn’t know a stranger. The shelves of his home were lined with pictures of his family and he never left a conversation without asking how his grandchildren/great grandchildren were doing. He was a vivid storyteller and loved to share his experiences with family and friends alike.
Robert is preceded in death by his partner, Dorothy Johnson, his son Ronald Odom, and his Mother and Father.
He is survived by his brother, Charles Odom, his Children - Robert Odom, Jr., Richard Odom and wife Kathleen, Rochelle Caterisano and husband David. Grandchildren - Robert Odom III, Raquel Brandon and husband Cecil Brandon, Caleb Boller, Rebekah Boller, Rachel Boller, Joel Roesener, Jeremy Roesener and Great-Grandchildren - Cameron Brandon, Christian Jordon Brandon, and Connor Brandon.
A graveside service for Robert will be held Thursday, December 30, 2021 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023.
