Robert Louis Jones

On Sunday, October 30, 2022, Robert Jones, loving granddad, brother, and father, passed away at the age of 72. Robert was born on January 25, 1950, in Houston, TX to Billy and Lucille Jones. He graduated from Spring Branch High School and joined the United States Air Force in June of 1969, following in the footsteps of his dad Billy, who also served in the Air Force. After his service in the Air Force, Robert went to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, again following in the footsteps of his dad Billy, who worked for the telephone company as well. On March 2, 1975, he married Janis Tyrrell, and they raised one son, Chad Jones.

Robert loved his family, good westerns, and the US Military. His favorite hobbies included building RC airplanes, fishing, working with tools, and spending time with family. He was also a big fan of John Wayne films and could quote them line for line. He was known for his easy-going demeanor, sense of humor, and his love of friends and family.

Robert was preceded in death by his father Billy, mother Lucille, and his brother Bryan. He is survived by his three brothers Dennis, David, Kevin, his ex-wife Janis, his daughter-in-law Shannon, son Chad, several nieces and nephews, and his grandchildren Gavin, Kinsley, and Layla.

A funeral service will be held on Friday November 18, 2022, at 12 o’clock pm at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home located at 13001 Katy Fwy, Houston, TX 77079. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Robert Jones’ name can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
