Robert Lee Burda went to heaven on October 19, 2011. He was born on May 6, 1928 in Bremond, Texas, but considered Houston his hometown. He was a graduate of Jefferson Davis High School and was among the first graduating class of the University of Houston School of Architecture. He was a long-time member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Robert was the definition of a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, father-in-law, and friend.
He was a gifted architect who worked his entire career (some 40 years) for Exxon. His vast achievements included supervising the construction of the Standard Oil Building in Rockefeller Center in New York, plus supervision of a vast array of real estate transactions for Exxon around the world.
Robert was met in heaven by Bertha, his loving wife of 59 years, as well as his father Stanley and his mother Stella, his brother and life-long friend Gene, and sister-in-law Virginia.
He is survived by his son Dr. Stephen Burda and his daughter-in-law Tricia, his daughter Elizabeth Peairson and son-in-law Mitch Peairson, grandson Dustin Burda and Dustin’s wife Stephanie, granddaughter Kimberley Burda, grandson Matthew Peairson, and granddaughter Anne Peairson.
Robert lived life to the fullest and he was incredibly joyful, kind and loving. The world was a better place because of the kind of man of God that he was. Services will be held at Heights Funeral Home, with a visitation from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 21, 2011 and the funeral on Saturday, October 22, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. The family will hold a private interment following the funeral.
