Robenia Brooks was born March 20, 1952 in Houston, Texas to the parents of Clyde Herbert Brooks Sr. and Lucille Johnson. Robenia was raised in Houston, TX. Robenia was educated in the North Forest Independent School District. She graduated from M. B. Smiley High School in 1971 and continued her education in a nursing & healthcare vocational school.
While in Houston, Robenia was baptized at a young age and continued her religious services at Jerusalem Baptist Church before attending New Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. LD Smith. Robenia has also attended Providence Missionary Baptist Church where she is a current and beloved member.
Robenia was a strong woman lover of GOD, full of compassion, a loving mother and supportive sister. For many years, Robenia worked in the nursing & healthcare field at various hospitals and in-home care facilities. Robenia was an excellent & delightful cook and loved to cook for her family and friends. The family loved when she would cook all their favorite holiday meals. Many don’t know she enjoyed writing as much as cooking. She was also a lover of music, especially rhythm and blues. She liked to attend concerts and had a massive collection of vinyl albums, back in the day before cassette tapes and CD’s became popular. All loves she passed on and instilled in her children.
Robenia departed this life on Wednesday evening, 5:45pm on November 25, 2020. She is preceded in death by her mother- Lucille Lee, father- Clyde Herbert Brooks Sr., husband- Ronald F. Waldon, brothers- Clyde Herbert Brooks Jr., James Wilford Broks Sr., Knobae Clarence Brooks and youngest son- Jarmine T. Spearman.
Robenia leaves to cherish her memory, her eldest sons, Ananias M. Brooks (Alisha), Robert D. Spearman, and her daughters of love Matilde Mendez and Toni Meadows.
Grandchildren – Mercedes M. Brooks, Alexander X. Brooks, Bobby M. Brooks and Brianna Brooks
Sisters – QueenyMae Thomas, Debra Faye Terry Brothers – James Louis Brooks Sr., and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
