Richard A. Anderson of Houston, TX passed away on November 2nd, 2012 at the age of 73 due to complications with pneumonia. Richard was born in Houston and was raised in Texas City by Dock and Christine Anderson along with his five brothers- Bill, Jimmy, Eddie (deceased), Sandy (deceased), and Artie. He joined the Marine Corps at the age of 17 and served for four years before joining the Army. Richard served another three years on Active Duty before transitioning to the National Guard. During his tour of Active Duty, he met his wife to be, Julia Willetts, with whom he fathered four children- Rene, Steven, Matthew, and Andrew. After his service in the military, Richard worked as a Contract Administrator for Texas Instruments and the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. He retired from TDCJ and the Army Reserves after 32 years of combined service and lived out his retirement in southwest Houston with his wife Julia. He is survived by his wife Julia, daughter Rene, sons Steven, Matthew, and Andrew, and grandchildren Vanessa, Kelsey, Sean, and Michelle, with another grandson due in March.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, November 11th at Advantage Funeral Services, 7010 Chetwood Dr., Houston, TX 77081. Cremated remains will be entombed at the Houston National Cemetery with Military Honors at a later time.
Do to constraints of the cemetery, we ask that donations be made to the American Diabetes Association in lieu of flowers.
