Reverend John Lee Sherman was born in Gloster, Louisiana on December 1, 1927 to Willie and Betty Sherman. He professed his faith in Jesus Christ at an early age. John attended school in Louisiana and Houston public schools. He accepted the call to preach God's word in 1955 and pastored two churches in the Acres Homes area. He worked at Houston Terminal Warehouse and Cold Storage for forty-six years. He was united in marriage to Helen Anderson on May 25, 1964. To this union, one son, John Joseph Sherman was born. On Saturday, May 3, 2014 at 9:17 pm, John departed this earthly life for his eternal home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Betty, Brothers Leroy and Herman. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife Helen; his son John Joseph Sherman, granddaughter Briana Symone Sherman, a special daughter Penney Sherman, honorary grandchildren Kennedy and Matthew Baldwin, Brothers-in-law Joseph Anderson, Ruben Anderson (Gay), Sisters-in-law: Jean(Larry)MacDonald, Lydia(Kenneth)Davis, nephews, nieces and a host of relatives.
