Refugia Ruth Trevino

July 4, 1928 – October 23, 2022

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Refugia “Ruth” Trevino, 94 years of age, on Sunday, October 23, 2022 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Houston, Texas. Ruth was born July 4, 1928 in Bellville, Texas to the late Pascal and Hipolita Garcia. She was the oldest of 8 children, 4 have preceded her in death.

Ruth meet and married Ignacio Trevino on January 10, 1948. They were married for 50 years and had 7 children. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Ignacio Trevino and daughter Delia Trevino. She is survived by daughter and husband Irma and Roberto Rocha, and sons and their wives, Jimmy and Vera Reyes, Ignacio and Lauda (deceased) Trevino, Jr., Ricardo and Terri (deceased) Trevino, Robert Trevino and Reynaldo Trevino. Ruth also had many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Ruth loved to read her bible and work her crossword puzzles between watching her novels on TV. She and her husband attended Our Lady of Sorrows church for many years. Ruth loved spending time and entertaining family and friends whether on holidays or birthday parties. She loved sitting outside swinging listening to her music, or going out dancing with her husband. She always made each person feel at home with her cooking and hospitality. She made the best Menudo, Tortillas and Lemon Meringue Pies. There was always a smile on her face even when her body would ache because of her Rheumatoid Arthritis. She never complained about feeling bad. When someone would ask how she was feeling, she would respond, “I feel wonderful!” Ruth worked for many years in the Houston downtown area at a local jewelry shop. She would catch the Metro bus that stopped right in front of her house in Denver Harbor. She loved getting dress up with hair and make up to go to work.

The visitation for Refugia will be held Tuesday, November 8, 2022 from 3:00 pm to 10:00 pm at Funeraria Del Angel Crespo, 2516 Navigation Blvd., Houston, Texas 77003. A rosary service will occur Tuesday, November 8, 2022 from 7:00 pm to 7:30 pm at Funeraria Del Anel Crespo Navigation. A funeral mass will occur Wednesday, November 9, 2022 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 4918 Cochran St., Houston, Texas 77009. A committal service will occur Wednesday, November 9, 2022 from 1:00 pm to 1:30 pm at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr., Houston, Texas 77305.
