Phillip Zane White, age 63, died on Saturday, February 18, 2017 in the Memorial Hermann Hospice Hospital in Houston, Texas after a short and difficult battle with cancer. From his birth in Cleburne, Texas on September 25, 1953 to his death on Saturday he provided people around him with love, faith, laughter, and generosity. He was born in Johnson County Memorial Hospital to James Lyod and Isobel White and was the youngest of three boys. Shortly after his birth, the White family moved to Houston, where Phillip and his brothers were raised.
After graduating from Lutheran High School in 1972, he went to work for the Houston Belt and Terminal, leaving the rail road for only a brief time to serve his country in the US Navy. However, before joining the Navy, Phillip met the love of his life, Margie Lynn McFadden, on a blind date arranged by mutual friends in 1975. Dating throughout his stint in the Navy and moving to and from California together, they finally got married on March 11th 1982 in a small service with family at a chapel in the Heights of Houston Texas. Following their marriage the couple started to build their life-long love and life together in Huffman, Texas. Together they raised three beautiful children and created a lifetime of sweet memories with their family. He and Margie loved camping with their children, spending time with family, hunting with his brothers and two boys, fishing with his grandchildren, and enjoying the simple pleasures of life together. You could always catch him with coffee in hand and a half-gallon of Blue Bell in the freezer. After working for the rail road as a Lead Carman for more than 35 years, Phillip took early retirement in 2008. The last few years of his life Phillip enjoyed relaxing on the back porch and creating a peaceful oasis, complete with a beautiful covered patio and lush landscaping, with wife Margie at their home in Humble. Though always a believer, Phillip was baptized in 2015 and officially accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior publicly at Atascocita Community Church. Left to honor Phillip and remember his great love is his wife of almost 35 years Margie Lynn and their children, Jason Eric White, Holly Nicole (White) Gilchriest, and Cody Zane White, as well as his two grandchildren, Tate McGee White and Toby Brooks White and two brothers, James Robert White, Dwain Lee White. Phillip was preceded in death by his parents James and Isobel. Phillip will be remembered as an honorable man who loved fiercely and gave all he had selflessly to his family. There was nothing he wouldn’t do for those who he loved. His love and dedication to Margie and family was inspiring and leaves a legacy that only few can aspire to attain. He was truly in a class all his own and his heart of gold will be missed, but forever remembered.
