Peter Sang-Ki Park, affectionately called “Sam” died Thursday morning, June 23rd 2016 at the age of 74. Sam died from complications of acute myeloid leukemia (AML). He’s been a resident of Houston since 1974.
Sam was born April 28th 1942 in Seoul, South Korea to proud father, Hyung-Hoon Park and mother, Sung-Lim Park.
He graduated Salutatorian from Dongguk University. After his 4-year compulsory military service he married, Cecilia Hyun-Ja Park, in 1969. Prior to moving to the US, he worked as a Business Development Manager for Daehan Chemical.
He worked for the Spring Branch Independent School District for 35 years as a welder and has been a parishioner at St. Andrew Kim Catholic for over 40 years.
Sam is survived by his wife, Cecilia; son, Paul Park; daughter, Nancy Rea; and grandchildren, Elliot Rea and Emery Rea.
His children knew him as loving, warm-hearted and selfless and his biggest lesson to his children was to just be thankful. Sam liked to dote on his grandchildren whenever he could spend time with them and was universally liked by anyone with a sense of humor.
The viewing will be held on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 2pm-9pm

A reception will be held after the interment at:
Korea House Restaurant, 10078 Long Point Rd, Houston, TX 77055
In place of flowers, the family asks that Memorial Donations be made to the National Geographic Society, American Cancer Society, and Catholic Charities.
