A well-regarded dentist in the Houston area for 50 years, Dr. Butcher leaves behind his wife, Patsy Rohrdanz McRae, son, Scott Clinton (wife Laurin) of San Antonio, grandson, Jacob Lee also of San Antonio, daughter, Leslie Diane Whited (husband Glenn) of Schertz, brother, Paul (wife Janet) of Rosenberg, sister, Anne Regier (husband Gary) of Pearland and sister-in-law, Linda Butcher of Boling as well as niece, Elaine Tackett (husband Steve) of Rosenberg, and nephews David Butcher of Austin, Chris Butcher of Wharton, Dustin Regier (wife Meaghan and their son Logan), of Austin and Brent Regier of Pearland. He was pre-deceased by father, Dr. Percy C. Butcher, Jr., who he followed in the dental profession, his mother, Vera Moulliet, and brother, Charles 'Chuck' Butcher.
Dr. Butcher, a native Houstonian, attended St. Thomas High School, and Loyola University in New Orleans, and the University of Texas Dental School. He served in the U. S. Air Force as a captain during the Viet Nam era.
Dr. Butcher was an exceptionally active member of the Houston Dental Society, a lifetime member of both the Texas and American Dental Associations and was an honored member of the International College of Dentists. He was also a long-time member of the River Oaks Breakfast Club and Golfcrest Country Club.
A private, family memorial mass, conducted by Father Roy Oggero, a former teacher of Dr. Butcher's, will be held at The Chapel of St. Basil at the University of St. Thomas on Thursday, January 18th, followed by a Celebration of Life reception from 5:30 to 7 PM at the Earthman Hunters Creek Funeral Home for friends, family, patients and neighbors. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer's Association. The family wishes to particularly thank Seasons Memory Care of San Antonio and Heart to Heart Hospice.
