Paul Martin Bland was welcomed home by the Lord on June 16, 2017. He fought a brief battle with cancer before passing away peacefully in his sleep. He was born on September 4, 1963 in Houston, Texas to William Robert Bland and Janice Martin Bland. Paul is preceded in death by his father, William Bland, and grandmother, Marguerite Bland.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Laura Cook Bland; daughter, Tyler Bland; mother, Janice Bland; step-mother, Janeil Bernard; siblings, Larry Bland and Sherrie Galaway; niece, Sarah Galaway; aunt, Betty Gentz and husband, William; uncle, Ronnie Martin and wife, Karen; his parents-in-law, Linda and Earle Higginbotham; and numerous members of his extended family and friends.
Paul grew up in Clear Lake, Texas and attended Clear Lake High School. He and his dad were very active in Boy Scouts, and Paul was always up for an adventure. He later studied at Sam Houston University where he started his first business, Student Resources. Paul enjoyed a successful career in sales at AlfaLaval. He loved people and never thought of his job as work. He will always be remembered for his outgoing personality and fun-loving attitude.
Paul lived in Coles Crossing in Cypress and had been a leader in the community from the beginning of Coles. He served as HOA board member and chairman of many different committees over the years. He was currently on the Board of MUD 365. He loved Second Baptist Church, Cypress and loved greeting members and visitors on Sunday morning. He volunteered for many other activities at the church.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions be made to Tyler Bland, PO Box 421514, Houston, Texas 77242 with a notation on the memo line “Educational Fund”.
