Paul Barker, born June 19, 1956, in New London, Connecticut, passed away on August 12, 2021. Paul is survived by his children Jason, Chris, Amanda, Liz, and Jackie, his siblings Stephanie, Roger, Dale and Brian, and his mother, Theresa.
If you’ve spent any time around the Barker family, you’ve experienced the bright, boisterous laughter of a family that loves each other and knows how to have a good time. Paul was the loudest of them all. Paul’s laugh was infectious. You might hear it pool side after a great story about life on an oil rig. Some were lucky enough to be standing in his kitchen as he tossed another pizza in the oven, telling a joke you hope the kids don’t repeat later. Paul’s warm, full-belly laughter was accented by the ear-to-ear grin that spread across his face. You need only look to his children to see that smile that so many people have come to love. Every one of them is a shining example of the joy Paul sent into the world and a testament to his status as the greatest dad of all time. Paul’s life was lived for his family. Paul loved his parents and siblings. He loved his children more than anything else in this world... except maybe his grandchildren. Paul’s family did not stop at blood either. There are countless others who have found themselves drawn into the Barker clan. For Paul, family was about love and respect. If you were fortunate enough to be counted as his family, then you were certainly touched by Paul’s generosity. Paul was the kind of man who you could count on to be there when no one else was. Paul’s generosity was the purest kind, with no expectation of return. It only mattered that those he loved were taken care of. There was no length to which he would not go to help out someone he loved. Paul’s lasting legacy is that of an iron work-ethic, limitless generosity, and unyielding love for those who need it most. Paul was larger than life. While he is missed, he will never truly be lost. So long as his family continues to show his love, share his generosity, sing his laughter, and shine his smile into the world.
