Norma J. Schultz

Norma was born March 9, 1935, in Bay City, Michigan to Dominic and Freida McMann Chiarovano. Norma graduated from Arthur Hill High School, Saginaw, Michigan in 1954. Norma retired after working over 20 years for Mountain States Telephone in New Mexico, California Bell, and Southwestern Bell, now AT&T in Houston and retired in 1992. She continued to work for Shell Oil for a short time as a contractor in the 1990’s and then stepped out of retirement to work as a contractor for Indiana Bell in the engineering offices reading blueprints from 2001 - 2002.

She had been a member of Christ Memorial Lutheran Church in Houston since 1977. Norma was also a member of Beta Sigma Phi for 54 years in which she made many friends, served in countless service projects, and fundraising. She loved to read books and watch classic movies in her spare time and was very good with trivia for old movies. In her final months she enjoyed coloring and found it very peaceful.

Mrs. Norma Jean Chiarovano Schultz is preceded in death by her parents and sisters Patricia Ann Chiarovano Hammer and Dora Lou Chiarovano Heikkinen and loving in-laws Walter and Ernestine Schultz. She leaves behind a loving husband of 69 years David Richard Schultz of Houston, Texas, daughters Debra Schultz of Spring, Texas and Patricia Schultz Cook and husband Tim of Cypress, Texas; sons Richard Schultz of Houston, Texas, Scott Schultz and wife Heidi of Fayetteville, Texas, and Steven Schultz of League City, Texas; Grandchildren Michelle Schultz and wife Toni of Humble, Texas, David Hokanson and wife Devon of Spring, Texas, Brent Patterson and wife Amanda of San Antonio, Texas, Kevin Patterson of Katy, Texas, Joshua Cook and Travis Cook of Cypress, Texas; Great grandchildren Sean Hokanson of Spring, Texas and James, Lauren, Aaron, Ryan, and Amelia Patterson of San Antonio, Texas, Jenna Bell of Spring, Texas and a host of other cousins, nephews, family and friends.

The Schultz family would like to give a special thanks to Parkway Skilled Care and staff and Houston Methodist Hospital West and staff who took great care of her in her final days of life.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Christ Memorial Lutheran Church on Saturday, October 7,2023 at 1:00pm. We ask that you wear any shade of purple as this was her favorite color.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Norma’s name to Christ Memorial Lutheran Church or a charity of your choice.
