Nell is survived by her three boys, Duncan, Roger and Allan a/k/a Alduro; significant other, Jay Harriss; one daughter-in-law; seven grandchildren; two sisters and several nieces and nephews in the U.S. and Holland.
Nell is a survivor of a Japanese prison camp in Indonesia during WWII, emigrated to The Netherlands where she married her husband, Egon Oppenheim, whom she met as a flight attendant on KLM. They moved to San Francisco in 1959 and quickly made it to Texas a few years later where she was a loving homemaker and wife. When the kids got older, she pursued her passion breeding Arabian horses at the family farm while also enjoying travels around the world, playing tennis and bridge.
Family and friends gathered for a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 8, in the chapel of Waltrip Funeral Directors, 1415 Campbell Road in Houston.
