Monserrate Perez Lugo was a man of immense humor and wisdom, cherishing every moment spent with his loved ones, a hard-working man, loving father, husband and grandpa. He always tried to find a way to stay active. He was friendly man and good neighbor. More than anything, he always was willing to help whoever needed it.
He passed away peacefully in his sleep at the hospital at the age of 86.
He was born in Camuy, Puerto Rico on September 7, 1938, where he spent his childhood. He came to the United States at the age of 17 and started to work right away. He met the love of his life, Sandra, in 1961 and since then they were inseparable. They began their family in 1965 with 5 kids and share this beautiful bond for 60 years.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Sandra Ann Perez, his sons, Joseph, louis, Edward, and John Michael (Teresa) his daughter, Rebecca Bach (Erik), his grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Carter, Joshua and Mirna Rosario. His brothers Juan Manuel and Ruben Perez and three sisters Annie, Sonia, and Yaya. He also has a whole bunch of nieces and nephews. He also has many adopted grandchildren, Miguel Gerardo, Sharon, Patricia, Miguel Angel, Efrain, Abraham, Amparito, David, Miriam, Eric, Jose Andres, Rafael, Vanessa, and Judith.
He is proceeded in death by his parents Maria Lugo and Juan Perez, his son Louis Anthony and his brothers Juan Antonio and Pedro Perez.
All of us, his family, want to thank everyone for all the love and care for Monsie, who will live in our hearts forever.
A visitation for Monserrate will be held Monday, December 30, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at American Heritage Funeral Home, 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, December 31, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St John Neumann Catholic Church, 2730 Nelwood Dr, Houston, TX 77038. A committal service will occur Tuesday, December 31, 2024 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home and Cemetery, 13102 North Fwy, Houston, TX 77060.
