Michael D. Laughlin, Lt. Col., USAF Ret., 64 passed away on Sunday, November 27, 2011 in Katy, TX. Michael was born on September 8, 1947 in Galena Park, TX. He was a graduate of Galena Park High School and received his B.A. from University of Houston in 1969. He enlisted in the United States Air Force following college and attended Basic and Officer Training at Lackland AFB, TX. In 1971 he completed Pilot Training at Vance AFB, OK. He was an Air Force KC-135 pilot for over 20 years, flying both the A and R models. During a break in service from 1976-1979, Michael was a systems analyst and programmer at Electronic Data Systems in San Francisco and Dallas. He also worked in the same capacity at Hughes Tool Company in Houston. In 1993 Michael retired from the Air Force with over 6000 hours of flying and numerous medals and citations. He helped to organize the new Air Force Junior ROTC program at Elsik High School in Alief ISD in 1994 and continued as the Aerospace Science Instructor until illness forced his retirement in 2011.
Greeting Michael in Heaven were his parents, Wilbern Joseph (Boots) and Mary Willie (Jane) Laughlin; his paternal grandparents Milton Elzie and Mary Laughlin; maternal grandparents William Frank and Willie Mae Harbuck;, and especially his twins Rachel Marie and Sarah Elizabeth Laughlin who left their earthly life in infancy and have been angels watching over his family since 1982. Michael is survived by his wife of 33 years, Michelle Miller Laughlin; son, Michael Benjamin Laughlin; daughter, Amy Janelle Laughlin; his brother Wilbern Joseph Laughlin and wife Riva; and numerous nephews and one niece. The family would like to thank the caregivers of Katy Elder Care (Sherry, Keri, Jimmie.): Dr. Trang Trinh, Dr. Pallavolu Reddy, Dr. Shalin Patel, Dr. Amir Rasheed, for their care and compassion during Michael’s illness.

A celebration of life service is scheduled for Friday, December 2, 2011 at 3:00 P.M. at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home and Cemetery, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX 77079.
