Michael was born in 1966 on Easter Sunday in Dallas, Texas. Expected by doctors to live only two days, Michael defied all challenges his disabilities presented and lived over 57 years.
Michael lived an active life, filled with adventures made possible by the Houston Lighthouse for the Blind’s Deafblind group program. Summer travels to Camp Summit in Dallas, horseback riding in Hermann Park, riding trains at the Houston Zoo, and swimming were favorite activities during the program’s peak years. Attending church and staying in touch with friends and family brought him much happiness.
Michael knew his ‘calling’ on Earth: to love God with all his heart. He embodied unconditional love. Michael did not need to see, hear, or speak with people to accept and love them. His devoted parents, brother and sister loved him deeply. Their lives and careers were inspired by the joyful, yet humble, way he lived.
Predeceased by his father, Larry H. Clark, Michael is survived by his beloved mother, Evelyn Clark. He has two siblings: Dr. Tracy Clark (wife Dr. Suzanne “Missy” Plum Clark), and sister Stephanie Clark Oates (husband John Oates). He has six nieces and nephews: David Clark Oates, Amanda and Ashley Oates, Michael M. Clark, Cory Plum and Danny Plum.
His smile, laughter, and kindness will be dearly missed.
A public visitation will be held in Houston, Texas, at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home and Cemetery on Saturday, September 23 at 10am, followed by a chapel and graveside service at 11am.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to The Deaf-Blind Multihandicapped Association of Texas (DBMAT).
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.memorialoaksfunerals.com for the Clark family.
