Melanie was born on December 31, 1953 to Eugene Joseph and Verna Blakeslee in Houston, Texas. Melanie received great accolades and awards while dancing for the Greater Civic Ballet Foundation and the Joy Alexander Dance Studio. After Melanie graduated from Woodville High School, she worked as an administrative assistant. She went on to earn an associates and certification as a paralegal, and a licensed Chemical Dependency counselor.
Melanie had only one child, Stacey Brown, who was the apple of her eye.
In 2020, Melanie was forced to retire due to a terminal cancer diagnosis. She spent her time caring for her mother, Verna Blakeslee, going to the Beach, painting, and loving her family. She was a good and helpful neighbor.
Melanie was predeceased by her father, Eugene Joseph Blakeslee, and her brother Gary K. Blakeslee. She is survived by her mother, Verna Blakeslee, daughter, Stacey Brown, son in law, Philip Brown and her grandchildren Wyatt and Brittney Brown.
