Mavis Maude Pollock was born in St. Mary, Jamaica on January 9, 1923 to Lillian Brown-Pollock and Joslin Pollock. She lived most of her life in Kingston, Jamaica and was married to the late George Wesley Mair. She came to reside in America where she was later joined by her husband George. Most knew her as “Mother Mair.”
She passed away to be with her savior and lord at 7:30 pm on Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at the rightful age of 87. She loved Jesus with all her heart, mind and soul. She was the most loving woman that you could ever meet. Anyone who knew Mavis knows that Mama was very strong willed and NEVER gave up without a fight! She loved her family very much and would not want us to mourn, but be joyful for her homecoming with the Lord.
She was cared for by all of her loving daughters til the time of her passing but two in particular, Paulette Isaacs and Marlene Cooper, were there around the clock providing undivided attention. Her favorite Pastor to watch was John Hagee, her favorite hymn was “Rock of Ages”, and she had to have her home cooked Jamaican food, her daytime stories and TBN.
When she came to America, her home church was Southwest First Church of God in Christ, where Pastor Sebron Oliver Brown resides. She later attended Faith New Covenant Church where Pastor Sonia M. Parsard resides until the day of her passing over.
Mavis and George…“Together Again”!
She lived a long and prosperous life and was survived by her 7 Brothers and 4 Sisters, 11 children, 35 Grandchildren and a host of Great-grandchildren and Great-great grandchildren. We Love You Papalodi and you will be missed dearly!
